Here's today's feel-good story:
A hermit, who became famous unintentionally after losing his home to a fire, is getting a new home thanks to some generous GoFundMe donations, including one huge donation from a philanthropist.
"River Dave", whose real name is David Lidstone, has been living in New Hampshire off the grid for decades. On the banks of the Merrimack River, Dave built a modest cabin with the permission of the property owner at the time.
The current owner took steps to have David removed citing environmental and zoning violations. Coincidentally, the cabin burned to the ground on the same day that Dave was due in court.
After hearing about David's struggles, billionaire CEO of Palantir Technologies and New Hampshire resident Alexander Karp reached out to David to offer him $180,000 for living and future expenses.
