Peter and Paula Closier were very worried when their five-year-old beagle mix escaped from their house in West Sussex.
Peter saw that their gate was open, and assumed the worst.
John Wilmer spotted Bonnie by the side of the road while on the way to a dog show that his two dogs were entered.
While trying to find Bonnie's owner, he decided to enter her into the "Best Rescue Dog" category, and to his surprise, she took third place!
“We couldn’t believe it,” says Peter. “You could not make it up.”
