According to new research, gardening can boost mental health, reduce the risk of cancer, and bring communities together.

Scientists say that gardening also leads to eating more fibrous vegetables and fruits, exercising more, and building stronger social connections.

“No matter where you go, people say there’s just something about gardening that makes them feel better,” said Dr. Jill Litt, a professor in the Department of Environmental Studies at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
