New Study Says Different Scents May Help Those With Depression

Scientists have found that smells are more effective than words at bringing back a memory and could be used to help depressed individuals escape a negative thought loop and rewire patterns.

"It was surprising to me that nobody thought to look at memory recall in depressed individuals using odor cues before," said Dr. Kymberly Young, senior author of the study and associate professor of psychiatry at Pitt.
