Here's today's feel-good story:
A new study by researchers at the University Of Georgia shows that eating pecans can dramatically improve one's cholesterol levels.
The study looked at those who were at risk for cardiovascular disease and those who ate pecans during the eight-week intervention showed big improvements in total cholesterol, triglycerides and low-density lipoprotein (LDL), or “bad” cholesterol.
“This dietary intervention, when put in the context of different intervention studies, was extremely successful,” said Jamie Cooper, a nutritional sciences professor and lead author of the study. “We had some people who actually went from having high cholesterol at the start of the study to no longer being in that category after the intervention.”
