Here's today's feel-good story:
According to a new study, dogs cry tears of joy when reunited with their owners.
Dogs are known to have tear ducts that flush dirt from their eyes but we never knew that they were also linked with emotion.
Professor Takefumi Kikusui undertook this investigation when he realized that his poodle started tearing up when taking care of its puppies.
“We had never heard of the discovery that animals shed tears in joyful situations, such as reuniting with their owners, and we were all excited that this would be a world first!” said Kikusui, whose study was published this week in the journal Current Biology.
