Hello friends! It was a wild weekend in Columbus, and for our show. Here are the highlights and lowlights, according to moi.
THE BUCKS (men's) LOST. Welp, Ohio State is out of the Big Dance after losing to Gonzaga in the second round. Those darn Zags held us off to bust into the Sweet 16. But, it was a heck of a season for new coach Chris Holtmann! And now the big question is if star Keita Bates-Diop will go pro. If he does, I'll sure miss saying his cool name. M*ichigan also won on a buzzer beater. Gross.
THE OSU WOMEN WON! Ohio State killed George Washington in the first round and host Central Michigan Monday night. The goal is to be in the Final Four at Nationwide Arena in two weeks. How cool would that be?! My fav player is Kelsey Mitchell, for obvious reasons Oh, and our women are also regular season Big Ten champs! Woot!
BUCKEYE WRESTLER KYLE SNYDER WON HIS *THIRD* NCAA TITLE. This guy deserves to be on the Mount Rushmore of Ohio State Athletics. He's also an Olympian. WHAT A GUY!
THE OSU MEN'S AND WOMEN'S HOCKEY TEAMS lost the Big Ten Championship Game and Frozen Four semifinal, respectively. The good news is that the men's team is a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Icy Hockey Tournament for the first time eva!
IN GIRL'S HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL, two Central Ohio teams both won state titles! Let's hear it for Africentic and Pick Central!
WNCI GAVE AWAY A JEEP IN CRAZY FASHION. A group of finalists had to KEEP THEIR HAND ON A JEEP FOR 48+ HOURS at the auto show at the Convention Center. CAN YOU IMAGINE? Our station live-streamed it all weekend and I was glued to the coverage. In the end, one lucky, resilient woman won a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. What a bad a**.
ST. PADDY'S AT FLANNAGAN'S was amazing, as it is every year. Our London DJ friend Tony Dibbin dressed as the Budweiser Dilly Dilly king. We had a fabulous week on the air with him, and gave away a trip to London! Farewell to the London Lover until May when Jimmy and I go to cover the Royal Wedding!
The highlight of my weekend was a get together at Jimmy's where Kip basically broke his condo.
And since this is my blog, how cute was Kipper on St. Patrick's Day?! The hat he's wearing was made by my husband's grandma, and my mom-in-law passed this treasure down to Kip. PS his real name is Patrick Kip and he's a real Irish lad! I hope you all had a wonderful, drunken weekend, making lots of memories!
