Do Grandparents Actually Like Babysitting Their Grandkids?

Calling all fellow moms! I have a serious question - do your parents actually like babysitting your kids, or do you think they just say they want to, but really it's a big hassle for them?

I realized this week that maybe my parents want some down time, too!

SO here's the deal - my husband Michael and I have a wedding to go to tomorrow night aaaand we kind of waited until last minute to find someone to watch the kids. I had hoped that my mom would want to come spend the weekend with us and that it would be problem solved, right?!

But that I started thinking about how LAST time my mom came up it was also because we had a wedding to go to. And I started to feel really guilty about calling her to ask again!

It made me start to wonder, do my parents actually like when I ask them if they can babysit? Or does that become a pain for them and they would rather be relaxing?

I decided not to ask her this time, and actually called my sister to see if she could come hang out for the weekend, but for the future, should I avoid asking my parents to do it?

Maybe I'm just overthinking it all!

What do you think? Have your parents ever turned down babysitting, even when they were free, just because they didn't want to? Or do they actually get a lot of joy out of spending one on one time (or in my case, two on one time) with their grandkids?

Maybe as the kids get older and are able to go out of the house and do more with them I will feel less guilty about it, but for now, I'm thankful my sister and my niece are going to come up so Michael and I can go to the wedding for a few hours!
