Chrissy Teigen Gets Real About Accepting Her Body After Having Babies

If you think all the talk about how amazing Chrissy Teigen is, then I apologize. Because this entire post is about how amazing Chrissy Teigen is.

Especially when it comes to being a mom, being a wife and generally being a role model for women everywhere.

Chrissy recently covered Good Housekeeping and in the article opened up about how motherhood itself has helped her accept herself and her body, admitting that we've all kind of forgotten what a real body looks like.

“I think, in a way, we’ve forgotten what a regular body looks like... There are people out there who are struggling and I’m struggling, and it’s okay to come to terms with that being okay, to realize that it’s gonna be a bit of a journey.”

Chrissy talked about the way that her body has changed since having Luna, who is now 2 1/2 and Miles, who is 7 months, with husband John Legend.

“Every morning when I look at myself in the mirror, I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, how did it get here? My baby was, like, four pounds and I gained, like, sixty pounds, and that seems off!’ But, you know, I think everyone’s body is just really different.”

Even though I carried twins, and naturally I gained a lot of weight during my pregnancy because there were TWO of them in there, I still can relate to Chrissy. The babies are 8 months old now, and I'm still trying to get used to my body as it is now!

What Chrissy said next, though, is what we all should focus on as mothers and just women in general.

“It’s all about trying to be happy with myself... I’m not blind: I see my body, I see the difference in shape, I see that I gained weight. But I also see with those same eyes that I have a beautiful baby boy, and this little girl that’s relentless and amazing, and I am very happy.”

This is something I remind myself of regularly too, I look at my family and think "WOW" and in those moments, it really doesn't matter how my body has changed. What matters is having a happy and healthy family.

Thank you for your honesty, Chrissy! People definitely don't talk about the realities of motherhood enough, and you're such a major part of changing that conversation.
