Though it's hard to imagine ever going back to "normal" life right now - I want you to really think about it for a second.
You're going out to your favorite restaurant, but with it only at half capacity, it still just feels... off. Everyone is wearing masks and gloves, the tables around you are empty, and it just doesn't feel the same as it did before quarantine.
So one restaurant in the US has created a plan to make the restaurant feel a little more like it did pre-COVID-19. And it involves fully dressed mannequins.
Now before you have the exactly same reaction I did when I first read this, "SAY WHAAAAT?!" let me explain how they're going to do it.
The Inn at Little Washington, a three-Michelin star restaurant in Washington D.C. has decided that in order to make the atmosphere of their restaurant feel less lonely, they will place fully-dressed mannequins at the tables that have to be left empty in order to meet the requirements of the D.C. area's reopening plan.
In DC, some businesses are allowed to open on May 28 as long as they adhere to social distancing rules, so this specific restaurant has decided to seat mannequins wearing vintage-style outfits at unoccupied tables starting May 29.
Even more, this isn't just a totally random decision. Apparently, the chef has always had always had a thing for mannequins—saying they never complain about anything, and you can have lots of fun dressing them up!
I'll be honest, I understand trying to give the restaurant the warmth and feeling of having a lot of people around - especially after we have all been locked inside our homes, unable to see friends and family or ANYONE for that matter - buttttt sitting next to a plastic person dressed up in a vintage outfit might not do it for me.
