Kehlani is kicking off a new era with their first solo song in two years.

On Thursday, April 4, the revered singer delivered their new track "After Hours." Kehlani sets the mood for a fun date night as they croons over a sample of the infamous Jamaican tune "Coolie Dance Rhythm" by Cordel Burrell. The popular riddim was sampled in various songs throughout the early 2000's from Nina Sky's "Move Ya Body" to Pitbull's "Culo." Kehlani announced their plans to drop "After Hours" earlier this week in a social post. They also previewed the record in a spicy video the singer shot with their friends.

"I just wanna be outside," Kehlani wrote in the caption. "i heard if you play this sound & throw your ass in a circle to the RIGHT, not left, you’ll bring good fortune to all your b***hes fr. cheers to a summer approaching. to thinking less and feeling more. to more fun… i think we need it."

Kehlani's lively record is the first offering from their upcoming album coming later this year. The album is set to arrive two years after their third studio album Blue Water Road. Over the past few weeks, the Grammy nominated artist has been sharing Easter eggs about their upcoming album. Last month, they informed fans the album was being mixed. Later on, they dropped the teaser video and shared the song's official cover art.
