Demi Moore is feeling "heartbroken" after her 2025 Oscars loss after an awards season where she had finally received her first major acting awards in her decades-long career.

A source told Page Six that Moore, who had been nominated for best lead actress for her role in The Substance at the 97th Academy Awards on Sunday (March 2), "was really hopeful that she had secured this win," so when the 62-year-old star lost out on the award to Anora actress Mikey Madison," she "can't help but feel heartbroken."

"Demi is taking this loss very hard because she felt like this was finally her chance to take home an Academy Award," the source said.

However, despite the disappointing loss, Moore has nothing but love for the 25-year-old actress who took home the coveted award. Other actresses nominated in the category include Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Fernanda Torres (I'm Still Here) and Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez). Check out the full list of 2025 Oscar winners.

"[Moore] is thrilled for Mikey and all the other women who were nominated for this award," the source said. "But of course, it was a huge disappointment not hearing her name be called."

On Monday, Moore reflected on her big night and awards season as a whole in a post on Instagram, admitting she's felt "so overwhelmed with gratitude for this journey." After sharing how "grateful" she was to her team, The Substance cast and crew, and fans, she offered a "huge congratulations" to Madison, telling her, "can't wait to see what you do next ❤️."
