A new stem-cell treatment in which growing new pancreas cells from unprogrammed stem cells has possibly helped a man be cured of his type 1 diabetes.
When Vertex Pharmaceuticals announced that it was performing a trial run of infusing insulin-providing cells into a pancreas, 64-year-old Brian Shelton's wife signed him up.
“It’s a whole new life, it’s a miracle,” said Shelton.
