Here's Today's Feel-Good Story:
As humans, we are wired to enjoy performing acts of kindness toward others.
Taking it a step further, a study now shows that performing kindness acts can be effective in reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Random acts of kindness can involve buying a stranger's coffee, baking cookies for the mailman, or planning fun activities for others.
Many in the study were surprised at how easy it was to perform these random acts.
“I was surprised it was not a particularly hard sell,” coauthor Jennifer Cheavens of Ohio State University said. “The people in the acts of kindness group had better uptake in some ways than the people in other groups.”
