Horses Can Recognize Emotion In Our Face And Voice

A new study shows that horses have an incredible sensitivity to outward human emotions such as joy and anger, but also emotions like sadness.

Horses can tell this based on facial expressions as well as the sound coming from the individual that the horse is observing.

“Sadness is an intriguing emotion, as it is not only negatively charged but also represents a low arousal state. Previous studies have demonstrated that horses respond to high arousal emotions, like anger or joy,” explained Plotine Jardat, lead author of the study and doctoral researcher at the University of Tours.
