Apple Intentionally Slows Down Your Old iPhone

So we've all noticed that our iPhones begin to slow down after about a year.  And we just thought that was Apple's way to get us to purchase their newest model.  Well, turns out that we were right! Yup, Apple really does slow down our phones!

Basically, iPhones use lithium-ion batteries, which slowly deny over time.

After roughly 500 charges, the battery only retains 80% of it's original capacity - meaning that the more you charge your phone, the faster your battery life dwindles.

Once the battery gets weak enough, it can't handle demanding tasks like processor-intensive games and apps.  So, for iPhone 6, 6S, SE, and 7, Apple recently released a feature that throttles - or slows down - the iPhone's processor when it's running on a decayed battery.

So there you have it. Next time you notice your iPhone lagging, blame it on the battery!  We see you Apple LOL
