I came across this really interesting event put together by Cat Goetze...she hosted a full-on “no phone, Y2K” party in Silver Lake where everyone had to lock their phones away and actually hang out like it was the early 2000s again.
People showed up in throwback outfits, danced, talked, and one girl literally wrote her phone number on a napkin because texting wasn’t an option.
What blew me away is that more than 700 people showed up and willingly unplugged for the night.
What stuck with me is how this wasn’t just a cute theme party either...it felt like a real shift, like people are craving a break from screens and looking for ways to connect in real life again.
So now I’m just wondering…when’s the next one? I feel like this could become a whole movement.
